San Juan, Puerto Rico

Our next stop was San Juan, Puerto Rico. We had obviously not done our research because we didn't realize until we got out there that it wasn't so much a beachy place but more of a walk-around-and-see-the-sites place. Which was totally fine. It was so pretty and had a lot of cool things to see.

Since we had an interior room, we had no window and had no idea what the weather was like until we went up to eat all decked out in our swimsuits. And then......RAIN. And lots of it. But we decided that wasn't going to stop us! We spent about 15 minutes standing just off the boat trying to decide what we were going to do. We were just about to pay $20 a person for a bus tour until we saw someone selling an umbrella for $10. And we decided to take our chances with that. But of course, not once did we have to open it up! It stopped raining the second we walked out there. But it came in handy later. 

Not yet sure what we want to do....

I so wanted to take a turn.

We went to the Castillo de San Cristobal, a fort built in the 1700s by Spain, then eventually used by the US in World War II. It was so cool and beautiful.

There were tons of lizards and iguanas on/in this pile of rocks and the surrounding grassy area. Pretty cool.

So gorgeous.

It was SOOO humid. I kept thinking how grateful I was for the clouds or it would have probably been unbearably hot.

And because of rain, the Caribbean Line Dance Party was moved inside. The two girls (not the one in pink) we met a few days before. They were from Utah and one of them ended up being the sister of a girl I worked with for several years.
